    On February 27, 2024, the Port of Fangliao in Pingtung was hit by a heavy oil spill. The Coast Guard Administration quickly responded by deploying oil containment booms to control and clean up the spill. The oil spill was discovered near an ice factory at around 2 PM, and immediate action was taken to limit the oil within a 4x4 meter area. The clean-up was completed by 5 PM with the assistance of various units.

    July 10, 2024, at the CPC Dalin Refinery offshore buoy for an oil spill

    「2024 CPC Corporation Taiping Refinery offshore buoy oil spill emergency response drill」,
    This drill, organized by the Ocean Affairs Council, together with the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Transportation, Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County governments, and CPC Corporation, was conducted at the Dalin Refinery's offshore buoy, 3 nautical miles off Kaohsiung's coast. The national, inter-departmental marine pollution emergency response drill aimed to enhance the response capability for marine pollution disasters.

    The exercise adopted a 3D operation mode (sea, land, and air), mobilizing 14 specialized marine pollution emergency response teams. The ECO UBoom 1600 oil containment boom, produced by Asia Clean Environmental Technology, demonstrated its effectiveness in wave resistance and containment during the drill. The sea conditions were about level 4 with wave heights around 2 meters.
